Ephyra Duo (saxophone and piano duo)
Charlotte Bradburn and Adam Caird have been performing together as Ephyra for 6 years. Winners in the 1999 Thames Valley Young Musicians' Platform and finalists in the Bromsgrove International Festival 2000, they appeared in the Park Lane Group New Year Series in the Purcell Room, London, in January 2001. They are active members of Lord Yehudi Menuhin's Live Music Now! Scheme and have also broadcast on BBC 2's 'Late Review'. Ephyra play regularly around the UK at music societies and festivals including performance at St-Martin-in-the-Fields Church, London. At the beginning of 2003, they were awarded a scholarship in order to take up a long term residency at The Banff Centre, Canada, where they recorded their debut album, 'Modern Standards'. Recent performances include a recital at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.
Ephyra Trio (saxophone, piano and cello)
The Ephyra Trio is an innovative extension of the established Ephyra Duo. All three members studied at The Royal Northern College of Music, their working relationship commencing with Opera North's multimedia production 'O4E', an original and modern version of Montiverdi's 'Orfeo' which took place at The Lowry, Salford, in December 2000. From August 2001, they provided the live music for the world premiere of the Olivier-Award-winning 'Humble Boy' by Charlotte Jones, which ran first at the National Theatre and later at the Gielgud Theatre. More recently, the trio have performed their own original score for the classic silent movie 'The Passion of Joan of Arc' at the Cornerhouse Cinema in Manchester.
